Indigo Shanghai On The Bund, Shanghai

Located directly on the Huangpu River front, the hotel features probably the best views of the city (both the historic Bund and dramatic Pudong skylines). These views, along with scenes from the local South Bund neighbourhood, have enabled Hotel Indigo to create a vibrant, contemporary and inspiring space in an upscale boutique hotel context.

The hotel reflects not only the city he reside in but also the energy of their local neighborhood.  The location, unique to Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund, enabled HBA to create an environment with a personality all of its own – one that could not be replicated anywhere else in Shanghai.

The lobby is stunning! The movement of the Huangpu River is reflected in the flowing lines and the ever-changing patterns in the hotel lobby. A sculptural wall creates a swirling, rolling effect and flows like a wave toward the reception desk. An old yellow bicycle and another “found art” installation resides in the lobby which gives you the feeling of being in an modern museum. For interior decoration, it looks the hotel used authentic furniture from local shops. You can see sculptures, paintings and photography from local new artists witch does not only gives character to the hotel but at the same time keep the interior fresh and vibrant.

The Bund history features predominantly in the rooms where whimsical artefacts and genuine furniture pieces vary from room to room. Wide, distressed gray panelling, with characteristic Shanghai woodworking details, polished plaster walls and iconic grey Shanghai Shikumen bricks provide a natural tone palette, an ideal canvas for the colourful and lively carpets. Custom designed silk print wallpaper, brings a flash of vibrant blues and pinks. The Rooms also display an eclectic selection of Chinese lanterns, ceramic pieces and antique accessories.

The dramatic Pudong skyline is mirrored in the minimalist and contemporary bathroom. The sleek and modern design includes baths with a glass wall framed in polished steel, looking out onto the river.

The hotel have 3 superior suites decorated based on the themes: Past, Present and Future… I saw all, and its hard to choose the most beautiful one.

All four local elements come together in the design of QUAY on the 6th floor, which offers guests an inviting space to unwind, meet friends, conduct casual business meetings and dine.

FIT is the hotel gym and you can also do some exercise on the beautiful indoor swimming pool which features views on three sides over the Bund, Shanghai’s Old Town and the Pudong skyline. A unique, contemporary, sleek and colourful design predominates with the lounge deck in curved, flowing orange panels and the pool tiled with a bright green and red mosaic.

The hotel also have one of best restaurants in the city.  CHAR, the latest addition to the bustling South Bund. A contemporary grill and bar that delivers a fine but refreshingly informal dining experience, the focus is on quality products, simple, bold flavours and playful presentation. The only restaurant in Shanghai to serve the award-winning Blackmore’s Wagyu beef from Australia, premium quality beef is the speciality, but seafood lovers will not be disappointed and the imaginative side dishes could be a sumptuous meal in themselves. I tried everything and wow! It was a Bang of flavors in my mouth.

Occupying the top three floors of Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund, CHAR has one of the best views in the City. The outdoor bar and terrace directly overlooks the river and with 270-degree views over The Bund and Pudong skylines, perfect to have a great cocktail and chat with friends all night long. And for grape lovers the wine list, designed by Barthélémy Lee, Food and Beverage Director for CHAR and one of only a few certified sommeliers in China, features many award-winning new-world gems from boutique vineyards, several available by the glass – a rare treat.
