Jeeva Beloam – Lombok
F
ew months before booking my trip to Indonesia, I read an article about the new and hottest beach camp resorts in the world. That’s when I found Jeeva Beloam. Located on an untouched area of Lombok, this resort is the perfect place to relax and return to the rhythm of life.
This luxury camp is made up of eleven wooden beruga houses scattered along a private beach on the far Southeastern tip of Lombok. Getting to the hotel from the airport takes 2 hours (the hotel collect you from arrivals and the transfers included in your room rate).
The road to the Jeeva takes you on a journey to the beautiful county side of Lombok full of corn fields and rice paddies. People here are not used to tourist, so don’t be surprised if they stare and smiling like you’re a rare vision. Jeeva Beloam is approximately 11 kilometers down a semi-paved road from Sekaroh Village, the nearest village and point where electricity services terminate. The final stretch of the journey is a bumpy ride down an unfinished road Deep in a 55-hectare nature forest preserve where the resort nestles.
Facing the Timor Sea, the camp has a stunning 250-meter long powdery desert white sand beach, literally just for yourself. In fact, this area of Lombok is so isolated that lodging at Jeeva Beloam Beach Camp is all-inclusive with accommodation including all meals, water, soft drinks and juices.
The Beruga (bungalow) is amazing, made by local craftsmen using traditional house-building techniques and natural recycled wood, bamboo and thatching. The bungalow it has a huge beach-facing front deck, soaring peaked ceilings and stylish décor, with huge sofas and puffs where you can just relax reading a book or take a nap like I did every afternoon.
The room décor is very simple and cozy giving a good balance between luxury and comfort within a rugged camping environment. The sleeping area is air-conditioned with a luxurious king-size mosquito netted bed. I woke up all days in my bed facing a stunning sunrise while birds were whispering. Bathrooms are rustic-luxe with large rain showers (water is solar-heated). As electric power is limited, air-conditioning is only available in the evenings.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the open-sided tend in the center of the beach fronted by a day-bed lined sun deck. breakfast and lunch consisting of a mix of Western and Asian breakfast favorites. . The menu for each three course meal changes daily to make the most of the best products available from local fisherman and farmers. Every dish was delicious. (Alcohol is not included).
What can you do at Jeeva beloam? Well, you can spend hours in the Pustaka, a beautiful small, well stocked library located in the reception area with great views to the ocean. Books from the library can be enjoyed anywhere in the resort.
You can do a wide range of activities, Biking, fishing, trekking, water sports, swimming in the private beach and Snorkeling and Diving in one of the best spots in Lombok. We spent the day snorkeling in the crystal beaches around the resort and ended the day with a beautiful sunset at Sunset Beach while the pearl farm workers pack up for the day and putter off on their fishing boats… If this sounds like too much hard work, you can get a massage in the spa.
Jeeva’s gracious hospitality is unique. The staff was great and the service exceptional. If you ever visit Lombok please don’t miss this hidden paradise… it was magical!
